Richard B. Cheney is a distinguished American businessman, public servant as well as a politician. Cheney has become a regular face on the Washington political landscape, has served under several U.S. presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush. He will serve as the fourth vice president, and is an elected official. Bush chose Cheney on July 20, 2000 to be his vice-presidential running partner, being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president. He also served as an elected Member of Congress as well as secretary of defence. Republicans and Democrats alike respect his honesty. Cheney said he views his role as an honest but discrete adviser in Bush's administration. Cheney has accepted the Republican Vice-Presidential election in 2007, stated that he was looking forward to serving under a president that will reach across the aisles and collaborate with rival political parties with goodwill and a common purpose. Richard Bruce Cheney is the father of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on the 30th of January 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. After 13 years of age, old, he emigrated together with family members from Nebraska to Casper in the western part of Wyoming and his father directed the local soil conservation district to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
